Ashley is an independent company director based in the Cayman Islands providing director, consulting and
advisory services to hedge funds, private equity funds and to international corporations and private investment
groups operating or intending to operate in a number of offshore jurisdictions and most notably in the Cayman
Ashley has in excess of 25 years experience in legal and international cross border finance and M&A in London,
Asia and the Caribbean jurisdictions of BVI and the Cayman Islands.
In the last 15 years or so he has led teams both for major institutional clients and also for start-up and
emerging managers through some of the most prosperous years as well as through the global economic crisis
and the recovery.
Prior Employment Experience
Ashley joined offshore law firm, Walkers in 2004, initially in their BVI office where he remained for two years
before transferring to their Cayman Islands office and then moving to Singapore in 2008 to establish the Walkers
office there before returning to the Cayman Islands in 2012 until his retirement from the firm in 2020. Ashley was
a Senior Partner of Walkers and a member of Walkers Investment Funds Group for over 16 years.
Prior to his career with Walkers Ashley obtained a First Class degree in Law and Distinction in his Law Society
finals before completing his articles and initial training as a lawyer with Norton Rose in London and in Singapore.
Ashley gained extensive international experience during this time working on a number of major international
transactions in the Insurance, Investment Management and Oil industries.
Ashley was a full board member of Cayman Finance, the body representing the financial services industry in
the Cayman Islands from 2017 to 2020 and now sits on the board of the Cayman Attorneys Regulation
Association. He has spoken extensively at investment management industry events in the Cayman Islands,
New York , London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
